“To Preserve the Nation”

ScottBradleyBy Scott N. Bradley
Former Candidate for U.S. Senate

Prior to the American Revolutionary War, concerned patriots throughout the American Colonies organized "Committees of Correspondence" to assure that vital information about their liberty, and the political state of affairs was widely distributed, so all who cared could stay informed.

This series of articles is intended to perform a similar modern-day function. The intention of these articles is to foster an understanding of how modern challenges that face the United States may be addressed using the wisdom and "original intent" of those who founded this nation. The words of this nation’s founders in regards to the current challenges will be the core message of each article. It is hoped that this effort will foster a return to the foundation principles upon which this nation was established so it may again enjoy the fullness of liberty and proper government that was created under the inspiration of God.

Should We Even Bother To Vote?
By Joel Skousen

Many of you write of your discouragement given the behind-the-scenes control of both major political parties that I have described. It is precisely because the system is rigged, including collusion by the mainstream media (see below) that we should vote-but not for either of the perceived "lesser of two evils." There is no lesser of two evils. Anyone allowed to run for office in the two major parties is equally part of the same evil. Only the perceptions and verbiage is different. The substance is uniformly socialist and globalist. So, don't be fooled into believing what either Bush or Kerry say.

In my opinion, principled voters should only support one of the alternative "third parties." Any vote for a third party helps send a message to the establishment that you won't compromise your vote ever again, for illusory advantage. Conservatives should always remember that much more damage is done to the cause of liberty when a Republican holds office-precisely because conservatives tend to accept what a Republican leader foists upon them, without scrutiny. They would fight against a Democratic administration. America will NOT be worse off with John Kerry in office so don't be afraid to "waste your vote" on a third party out of the fear of "helping to elect John Kerry." We have sustained more damage to liberty and the constitution under George Bush than under any other president since FDR-and that includes President Clinton.

In registering a Third Party protest vote, I encourage you to use that protest vote in behalf of a third party that has the potential for growth and that has a standard of principles that will not betray our principles of liberty. My personal preference is for the Constitution Party. I also support most of what the Libertarian Party champions. Neither party will betray the Constitution, though they differ significantly on some important social and moral issues.

Update on Ballot Petition Drive

On 16 March 2005, we passed the 2000 verified signature mark, putting the Constitution Party on the Utah state ballot. Late in the afternoon reports came in from several counties, and the 269 verified sigantures that came in from Utah county put us at 2,023 signatures. Then the next day another 182 came in from Weber and so the total now stands at 2,205, 10% over the required number. There are still more signatures to be processed, so the total will move high as those come in.

My sincere thanks to all of you for your effort in getting us back on the ballot.  The first go around it took us over 10 months to get on the ballot and this time around it took a little over 10 weeks.  That is a tribute to all of you for your hard work and to the growing base of the Constitution Party here in the state.

Our next big project is the Natonal Committee meeting the last part of April.

Again, my sincere thanks to all of you.

National Election Report

November 8, 2004

Dear Friends of the Constitutional Republic:

Thank you for all the hard work you did for us leading up to Tuesday. While the election results are not yet official, I am pleased to report to you the results from Tuesday's election. You may have different numbers than me -- I am working with results released on Wednesday at noon -- but don't worry about correcting my numbers. When the official numbers come out, I will update the entire grid, and release a final report.

On Tuesday, 129,255 people went out and voted for Michael Anthony Peroutka for President. Rather than providing a detailed report on each state, I want to highlight some of our brightest spots, and save the detailed analysis until the official results are in.

Since California has more people in it than Alaska, it would be unfair to compare raw vote totals when determining in which State the Peroutka team did the best. So, I took the raw vote total from each State and divided it by the number of Congressional Districts in the State. Since each Congressional District has roughly the same number of People, this function equalizes the States.

The top-ranking state was Utah, with 2,131 votes per Congressional District. This constituted .76% of the popular vote in Utah. Alaska followed with 1,612 votes per District, or .66% of the vote. Idaho, Montana and South Dakota followed with 1,538 (.52%), 1,405 (.36%) and 1,106 (.28%) respectively.

Overall, "third party" voters constituted under 1% of the popular vote. This is a drastic contraction since the modern dawn of "third parties" in 1992. In 1992, with Ross Perot and the birth of the Constitution Party (then, U.S. Taxpayers Party), "third party" voters constituted 20% of the popular vote (20,363,723). By 1996, "third party" voters shrunk by half, to 10% (9,799,522). In 2000, "third party" voters constituted less than 4% of the vote, and in the most recent election, less than 1%. Amidst this contraction, the Constitution Party's share of the "third party" vote to be had has increased, while the other "third parties" have decreased. Let me explain.

In 1992, Ross Perot had 96.7% of the "third party" vote; the Libertarian Party had 1.4% and our founder, Howard Phillips, had 0.2%. In 1996, Perot received 82.5%, the Libertarians 4.9% and the Constitution Party 1.8%. In 2000, the Green Party had its advent with Ralph Nader, which immediately grabbed 73.3% of the "third party" vote, the Libertarians grew to 9.5% and the Constitution Party received 2.5%.

By 2004, the pool of "third party" voters had contracted to only 5% of what it was in 1992. There are simply less votes to be had. While the Libertarian share of the "third party" votes increased from 9.5% in 2000 to 35.8% in 2004, their actual number of voters decreased by about 5,000. This was a contraction of 1.4%. Additionally, the Nader/Cobb Green Campaign experienced a contraction of 82.9% since 2000.

I attribute the great contraction of the "third party" pool of voters to the allegedly heightened Boogie Man factor of recent elections. Since 1996, both the Republicans and the Democrats have been running fear-mongering campaigns, villifying their opponant, and scaring their base into voting for an acknowledged "lesser of two evils." Both Ralph Nader and Michael Peroutka experience this in the Campaign.

Despite the contractions, and the Boogie Man, the Constitution Party's share of "third party" voters increased from 2.5% to 12.5%, and in real numbers increased by more than 30,000, which is a 31.1% expansion, rather than a contraction, in four years.

So the good news is, there are 130,000 of "us" out there, and we are growing in real numbers.

For God, Family, & the Republic,
Scott T. Whiteman
Campaign Manager

Michael Peroutka’s Campaign Themes

Honor God

The very first presupposition of American government is that there exists a Creator God, yet our taxpayer-funded schools teach our children that He either doesn’t exist or that they can’t mention His name.

This attack against the right of the people to acknowledge God is disgraceful and it is un-American. The Constitution Party is committed to an American understanding of law and government – that rights come from God and that it is the purpose of government to secure and defend them.

Protect the Family

Strong families are the essential building blocks of a strong, moral and just community. But America’s families today are under constant attack by federally funded programs that are dangerous and unconstitutional.  Government schools are drugging and “dumbing-down” our children making them dependent and compliant.

The Constitution Party encourages faithful fathers and mothers to train their children to love God and serve others according to their own conscience and without the interference of unConstitutional federal programs.

Restore the Republic

America needs and deserves a president that is willing to stand up against the entrenched socialists, elitists and globalists who presently have a stranglehold on American political power.

It is clear that both major parties are committed to the agenda of the new world order and seek to enforce economic, military and social policies that are antithetical to the interests of the people of America.

Michael Peroutka and the Constitution Party will fight to defend America against its foreign and domestic enemies in order to return to a Republic of Sovereign States based on Biblical principles.

Lehi Election

Below are the results of last night's primary election. It was such a thrill to see Craig win in the primary election.  We must work together as never before to make sure all three of these people are elected to the city council in November.   I thought you would want to know of our success. If we are to turn things around in our nation we must start at home at the local level and build form the bottom up.  I do not see us acheiving long term success in any other way.

I am grateful to Craig for making the sacrifice to run for Lehi City Council.

I wanted to email you sooner, but have just been buried in work here at the office this morning. Craig Laurence pulled it off yesterday and made it through the primary.

Goron Miner is a life long resident of Lehi while Craig is a newcomer to the city so in light of that he did very well. We will have our work cut out to beat the incumbents but we will do all in our power to do so. The fact that Howard Johnson outpolled the incumbent mayor is most encouraging.  He is not popular in the city with many residents and the council members are tied to him. With all of Craig's team having made it through the primary, this should help them tremendously in the November election. They all filed at the very last moment.  All three appear in the same brochure and that proved to be a very smart move.  Each gave credibiltiy to the other two that way.

Steve Pratt's son also ran for town council in the small community of Boulder, UT, but I have not been able to verify the results of this election yet.

Constitution Party of Utah State Convetion 2005

The state convention of the Constitution Party of Utah was held on 10 September 2005.Thanks to you all from the bottom of my heart for all you did to make our State Convention the biggest and best ever!!!  The long term effects of the meeting are just beginning to show.  I was over whelmed by the compliments that came from so many sources.  There was not a person there who did not feel good about the convention.  There are still things we need to learn and progress to make, but I felt good about the willingness of people to pull together and move forward. The high caliber of the people was one thing that people brought to my attention over and over. It was truly a gratifying experience. As best I have it, the following are the numbers by county:

National Constitution Party Names New Communications Director

Thom Holmes, Southern Regional Director of the CP, announced on 2 September 2005 the appointment of Dr. Steve Bonta to the position of Communications Director of the Constitution Party. He is an outstanding individual and will be a tremendous asset to the party.

For the party to hire Dr. Bonta in an off year elections is a most encouraging indication of the party's growth.

From the inside cover of Steve's book "Inside the United Nations" which was published in 2003:

Steve Bonta has written extensively for The New American magazine as both a writer and contributing editor. In that capacity he had the opportunity, in March 2002, of traveling to Monterey, Mexico, to cover the UN's conference on financing for Development.  More recently, Mr. Bonta was appointed Director of Robert Welch University. Mr. Bonta received his B.A. from Penn State University in 1989 in Comparative Literature, his M.A. in linguistics from Brigham Young University in 1996, and is now finishing a PhD in the same subject from Cornell University.

Mr. Bonta has traveled widely and has lived abroad in South America, Asia, and Europe, and is proficient in a number of foreign languages. He and his wife of twelve years, Karylee, live in Appleton, Wisconsin.

Constitution Party of Utah Breaks New Record

March 17, 2006 was an historic day for the Constitution Party of Utah, as well as for the National Constitution Party.  All of the statistics are not yet confirmed but it appears that at least 52 candidates filed for office on the Constitution Party Ticket as of the filing dead line on Friday, March 17th. The number of candidates who filed for office on the CP was more than all other minor party candidates combined. This is the largest number of candidates to ever file for office in any state since the party was founded in 1992. Not only is this number the largest number of candidates to file in any state, but, according to the Constitution Party Chairman Jim Clymer of Lancaster, PA, the Utah candidates are among the highest caliber candidates the party has ever attracted. Clymer has visited Utah three times during the last three years in an effort to help build the Constitution Party here in the state. Although the national party was founded in 1992, the Utah party was not organized until August of 2001 and was on the ballot for the first time in 2004. That year Utah gave the CP Presidential candidate, Michael Peroutka, the highest percent of the vote of all 50 states.  Alaska was second followed by Idaho.

The big news was the filing of one well-known and respected candidate who filed for the U. S. Senate against Orrin Hatch and the filing for all three U. S. Congressional districts by other candidates. Until his resignation earlier this month, Scott Bradley served as a member of the  Republican State Central Committee. He also founded the Constitution Commemoration Foundations which sponsors the annual Constitution Day celebration in Northern Utah. Mark Hudson a former state delegate to the GOP state convention filed for the First Congressional District. He will face Rep Rob Bishop on the November ballot.  Filing for the Second Congressional District was W. David Perry, a life long republican and a former city council member from Draper, Utah.  David brings a wealth of talent to the Constitution Party. Jim Noorlander, a highly respected member of the Republican Party from Sanpete County and also a recent state delegate to the Republican State Convention filed for Utah’s Third Congressional District and will face Chris Cannon on the November ballot.

Both Scott Bradley and Jim Noorlander are well known and highly respected men both among their peers an in political circles. They are frequent quest speakers at both political and non political functions. Both men were guest speakers at the recent annual convention of the Utah Eagle Forum and shared the podium with Phyllis Schlaffley, Eagle Forum founder and president of that organization.
Constitution Party candidates filed for 11 of the 16 state senate seats up for election to the Utah State Senate this year.  All 11 of those races are three way races. CP candidates also filed 23 of the 75 state house seats up for election and 18 of those are also three way races.  In addition to these filings, a number of people filed to run for local county commission seats and other county races.  As of this writing, a number of those filings still need to be confirmed. Both candidates and residents who filed for office and who are joining the party are coming from both major parties in about the same percentage as those parties are represented in Utah.

Good News, indeed,
Frank Fluckiger.

Enthusiasm Very Evident at CP Precinct Caucus Meetings

Attendance at the Constitution Party precinct caucus meetings across the state on Tuesday, March 21, exceeded the expectations of both state and county officers. Especially well attended were those precinct caucus meetings held in rural counties. There are still over a dozen precincts in Salt Lake, Utah, Millard, Iron and Sanpete Counties that have not yet reported their attendance, but those precincts that have reported show well over 500 people attended caucus meetings throughout the state. Nearly 80 meetings in all were held in 13 of Utah’s 29 counties. Salt Lake County hosted the most meetings and also had the highest number of attendees, 112. Taking second place was rural Millard County with a reported 67 attending and two more precincts to yet report.  Meetings were hosted in every community in that county.  Davis and Utah Counties were close behind with 65 each, followed by Cache County with 48. Though these numbers are small, they reflect a growing interest in the Constitution Party. Nearly all of the attendees changed their party registration to the Constitution Party at the conclusion of the caucuses and the feed back from those attending was extremely positive and upbeat. Ten citizens in one county who chaired precinct meetings of other parties, declined to serve a subsequent term of office in their respective parties because they intended to align themselves with the Constitution Party.

County conventions are now being scheduled between Early April and mid May.  The State Convention will be held in Salt Lake City on Saturday, May 20th.  It is hoped that Scott Bradley, the Constitution Party U. S. Senate candidate, and all three of the U. S. Congressional candidates will be able to speak at the county conventions in their respective districts. No conventions will be held the weekend of April 22nd, as party leaders will be attending the semi annual national committee meeting of the Constitution Party in Florida. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend both the county and state conventions although voting will be restricted to those people who are delegates. The dates and locations of the conventions will be posted on the web site as soon as that information is available.

Constitution Party of Utah State Convention 2006

The 2006 state convention of the Constitution Party of Utah was held at the American Heritage School on 20 May 2006.  There were over 500 registered delegates, of which over 300 attended the convention, making it not only the largest convention in the state party’s history, but the largest third party convention ever held in the state of Utah. In addition, this was the largest state convention in the history of the national Constitution Party.

During the convention, 52 candidates were nominated to vie against the candidates of the other major parties for numerous county commission posts, state house and state senate seats, as well as for three seats in the United States House of Representatives and one seat in the United States Senate. This is the largest field of Constitution Party candidates in any state in America.

The four federal candidates made stirring acceptance speeches: Mark Hudson, David Perry, Jim Noorlander, and Scott Bradley. Then keynote speaker Rick Jore spoke to the delegates. The concluding speak was Frank Fluckiger, state chairman of the Constitution Party of Utah.

Utah Surging in New Contacts

Thom Holmes, a member of the Constitution Party National Executive Committee, recently contacted Frank Fluckiger, the state party chairman, and reported “Something's going on in Utah because the number of new contacts we're receiving from there has taken off the last 2 days!” Thom commented that “ten percent of the new people giving us their contact info are from Utah! Those folks over there must be talking to their family members about the Constitution Party during these holidays.”

In responding to Mr. Holmes’ congratulatory message, Frank attributed this surge in interest to party members sharing the “Meet the Candidates” DVD with family and friends. He also felt that the outstanding speeches of the Congressional candidates at the Utah state convention on 20 May 2006 were a significant factor. In addition, Frank noted that the party has been pushing the Institute on the Constitution (IOTC) classes, which are being sponsored in numerous communities around the state of Utah.

Frank reported that “During the month of April and May we held county conventions in nearly half of Utah's counties, and our Congressional candidates spoke at all of those meetings. We distributed nearly a thousand DVD's at those conventions and had about five hundred people attend in all.  Hopefully the increase in interest in the party is a combination of all of these things.”

According to Frank, the Constitution Party is attracting some very outstanding people to the party, and they are all doing their utmost to spread the word about the party.

DVDs, T-shirts and Web Site Getting the Word Out

The recent state convention of the Constitution Party of Utah, at which over 300 delegates were in attendance, was video taped. DVDs of the proceedings are currently in production and will be available for distribution shortly.  There are also plans to produce audio CDs of the candidate speeches. The video will also be available on Pod-cast for download over the Internet. Check this site for news of when the DVDs, CDs, and Pod-cast become available.

At the state convention over 400 "Meet the Candidate" DVDs were distributed. Including the DVDs that are being circulated by party members in their neighborhoods, over 2,000 DVDs are in the hands of Utah citizens.

The state organization has made up Constitution Party t-shirts to enable members and supporters to get out the word. The shirts are very popular. Alan Youngblood, county chairman in Sanpete County, says he literally gives people the shirt off his back if they express interest in the party. So far over 120 shirts have been distributed, and more have been ordered. Those who would like to get a t-shirt can contact Frank Fluckiger. See the Contact Us page for information about how to reach Frank.

The state web site www.cputah.org receives many visitors each day. On the average, the site gets between 120 and 180 visitors every day. This is just one more indication of the growing awareness and interest among Utahans in the Constitution Party.

Constitution Party Represented at UHEA

The Constitution Party of Utah had a booth at the recent convention of the Utah Home Education Association. As an indication of the increased stature of the party, Frank Fluckiger, state chairperson for the party, reported that the UHEA invited the party to set up a booth this year. U.S. Senate candidate Scott Bradley and U.S. Congressional candidate Mark Hudson helped man the booth and spoke with convention visitors. Frank noted a dramatic change in public opinion regarding the party among the conventioneers. The party's booth received a lot of attention during the one-day event.  Even though general attendance was down at the convention from past years, the traffic at the Constitution Party booth was brisk and constant. Many visitors expressed surprise and pleasure because Scott Bradley is running as a Constitution Party
candidate.

County Organizations Making Great Strides

At the recent state executive meeting of the Constitution Party of Utah, state chairman Frank Fluckiger reported that the party is now organized in 14 of the 29 counties in Utah. Having half of the counties with active organizations is an important milestone for the party.

Frank reported that Sevier County is the latest county to get organized. He cited the active distribution of the "Meet the Candidate" DVDs among county residents as a primary source of interest in the party.

At the same executive meeting, several county chairpersons reported substantial progress in their efforts to raise awareness of the Constitution Party within their counties.

Jorgina Hancock, chairperson for Davis County, reported that voter registration in the Constitution Party has tripled in the past two years. In 2004 approximately 30 voters were registered in the Constitution Party in Davis County. Today there are over 90 registered Constitution Party voters. Jorgina has also seen a substantial growth in people who are contacting her about the party. She says the calls and emails are overwhelming, and she is looking for willing volunteers to help her respond to the many requests for information.

Cache County chairperson Phil Betz is in the early organizational stages in his county. He reported that he recently held the initial organizing meeting and elected county officers. The county executive organization consists of six officers and members. Their first objective is to promote education on the Constitution among Cache County residents. Though they are just getting started, Phil is very optimistic.

Kirk Pearson, the county chair in Tooele, reported that party membership is growing in his county as well. When he first became involved with the Constitution Party, there were only four registered party voters in Tooele country. Today there are 30 registered voters, and the number is growing quickly. One of the approaches that his county members use to promote the party is to carry state voter registration forms with them. When someone asks about the party and how to get involved, they hand them a voter registration form on the spot and tell them how to get registered.

Independence Day Events Herald Constitution Party

CPFloatThis float was funded, built and operated by Constitution Party members in Uintah County for the Independence Day Parade in Vernal, Utah. It was said to have been the nicest float in the 4th of July Parade. It is easy to see why. Congratulations to a group of people who took the initiative on their own to build and enter this float. It will be used in other parades as well.

This type of thing is happening all over the state and it is this type of activity that will bring the party good positive recognition and ultimate success on election day. Congratulations to the good people of Uintah County who made this possible.  Your work is most impressive.

The Constitution Party of Utah had a booth at the Freedom Festival in Provo on July 4. This is the biggest Independence Day event in Utah County. The booth was a great way for party candidates to meet people and for the party to raise awareness and distribute information. Party members in Utah County were encouraged to attend the festival and wear their Constitution Party t-shirts.

Tooele and Grantsville hosted Independence Day parades at which the Constitution Party had a presence. Kirk Pearson, county chairman in Tooele, organized party members to distribute literature to parade visitors.

Mark Hudson, Constitution Party candidate for the Utah 1st Congressional District seat, spoke during the Layton Liberty Days celebration on 4 July 2006. The Standard Examiner published an article about the event, including excerpts from Mark’s speech.  Click here to read the article.

Mark Hudson also appeared in the Kaysville Independence Day Parade.  Huge crowds were in attendance. It was a great day of exposure for the Constitution Party. Thanks to everyone who helped make it happen.

Constitution Party Registration Increases Dramatically in Utah

In a recent state executive committee meeting of the Constitution Party of Utah, Frank Fluckiger, state party chairman, announced that the number of registered party members has increased 162% since the last benchmark of October 2004.  Party membership had surged ahead just prior to the 2004 elections. Growth in party membership has continued ever since then. With the looming elections again this year, more and more members of the major parties are becoming disillusioned with the platforms and candidates that are being offered, and they are turning to the Constitution Party as the logical alternative. The Constitution Party themes of “Honor God”, “Defend the Family”, and “Restore the Republic” speak straight to the hearts and philosophies of Utah citizens.  The party leadership looks forward to a sharpening increase in growth of membership as voting day approaches.

No third party has even gotten as much expose to the public as the Constitution Party has succeeded in getting. All of these entries were in the First Congressional District.

Constitution Party Makes Progress in Dan Jones Polls

In the latest Dan Jones poll, published in the Deseret News on 21 July 2006, Constitution Party candidates are gaining ground, according to Frank Fluckiger, state Constitution Party chairman.  Read the entire Deseret News article.

The good news is that all of the Constitution Party candidates for Federal offices have increased their poll percentages since the initial poll in late March, 2006. Support for Scott Bradley (candidate for U. S. Senate) is now at 3%. Mark Hudson’s support (1st U.S. Congressional. District) is at 4%. David Perry (2nd U.S. Congressional District) has 1% of the support. Support for Jim Norlander (3rd U.S. Congressional. District) is 4%.  These figures are encouraging and have been accomplished with little or no publicity from the major media.

Efforts of party members in sharing the “Meet The Candidates” DVD's with family and friends, along with all the other activities they are doing, such as passing out literature and talking with friends, is beginning to have an impact. The power of this effort is going to be exponential.  Frank encourages all party members to keep up the great work, and he thanks everyone for all they are doing.

As a side note, Harris Interactive recently released a poll asking, “If the election of Congress were being held today, would you be voting for the Republican candidate or the Democratic candidate?” The responses were: Democratic 44%, Republican 31%, “other” 17%, undecided 8%. The poll was taken July 7-10, 2006. The results are one more indication that the indication that the Republican Party has abandoned her core constituents just as the Whig party did in the 1850's.

Sign Campaign

A yard sign campaign to support Constitution Party candidates created visibility for the party in the 2006 elections.

The state party also organized a truck sign campaign. Large signs supporting candidates and the party were printed and mounted on wooden A-frames. The frames fit in the back of pickup trucks, making the trucks mobile advertisers for the party and its candidates.

Logan Gets the Constitution Party Message

Representatives of the Constitution Party, organized by Cache County chairman Phil Betz, made their presence known a the recent Pioneer Day parades in both Logan and North Logan. Phil and his team handed out 1,500 fliers at the two parades.  They then manned a booth for four hours at the Logan festival, where they handed out a large number of pamphlets about the Constitution Party platform.

Following up after the parades, Cache County sponsored a “Meet the Candidates” event on Wednesday, 26 July 2006. The featured speakers were Scott Bradley, Constitution Party candidate for the U.S. Senate, and Mark Hudson, Constitution Party candidate for the 1st U.S. Congressional District. Several new people attended who have volunteered to worked on the county committees.

Frank Fluckiger, state party chairman, was interviewed Wednesday by Adam Benson of the Logan Herald Journal newspaper. Mr. Benson also interviewed Constitution Party candidates Scott Bradley, and Mark Hudson and county chairman Phil Betz. The resulting article was published on 31 July 2006.  About the article, Frank commented: “Little by little we are gaining more and more recognition in the local press, and I am grateful for that. This quite favorable article is a bit of a pay off for everyone’s hard work.”

Tooele County Fair Success

Kirk Pearson, county chairman for the Constitution Party in Tooele, reported that the party sponsored a booth at the Tooele County Fair this last Thursday Friday and Saturday, August 3-5, 2006. The Constitution Party booth was flanked by the Republicans on one side and the Democrats on the other. Kirk believed this placement gave the Constitution Party the appearance of being one of the major parties in the state. Those in the booth talked to many people who had no idea that they had another choice in the upcoming election.

During some of the slow times, party representatives talked to the other parties and tried to convince them to vote for our national candidates Scott Bradley and Mark Hudson. Kirk commented that they approached the other party representatives in a positive way, and they were well received. One of the state representatives said he would not go on recorded, but he always votes for the person, not the party, and Scott Bradley is a very good man whom he admires very much.

The Tooele fair also had a Demolition Derby. Kirk convinced one of his neighbors who entered a car in the event to paint “Vote Kirk Pearson, Constitution Party” on the side of his car. The car made it all the way to the final three, so the party got good coverage during the event.

In addition, Thursday morning a news crew from Channel 2 showed up to let everyone know the Tooele fair was going to start. They interviewed Kirk’s neighbor and showed his car on Channel 2 morning news. Kirk’s sign was clearly visible in the news clip that was broadcast. “So how is that for some good, free publicity?” Kirk commented.

Noorlander Stands for Genuine American Values

Tom Chapman recently wrote a positive, supportive letter regarding Jim Noorlander, Constitution Party candidate for U.S. House of Representatives, Utah District 3, which was published in the Daily Herald in Utah County. Credit goes to the editors of the Daily Herald for giving space in their paper to a Constitution Party Candidate. Letters to the editor are an excellent way of getting the cause and candidates of the Constitution Party into the mainstream media. Everyone is encouraged to write letters to their local papers.

CONSTITUTION PARTY CELEBRATES ELECTION VICTORIES!

From the Constitution Party National Headquarters

The Constitution Party made great strides in the 2006 election and can, for the first time, celebrate victory!

First of all, congratulations go out to Rick Jore, of Montana, who made history becoming the first Constitution Party candidate from any state to be elected to the state legislature, capturing the seat in Montana’s 12th District. Jore actually won in 2004, by three votes only to see the courts throw out enough ballots to give the Democrat the victory. This year, in a rematch, he won convincingly, garnering 56.2% of the vote and drubbing his Democrat opponent.

Two candidates in Nevada’s Independent American Party were also elected to office. Jackie Berg was elected Eureka County Clerk with 54.10% of the vote, easily topping Republican and Libertarian opposition. Also, Cel Ochoa will be the new constable in Searchlight, Nevada by virtue of winning 54.93% of the vote to defeat her Republican rival. Another feather in the cap of the Nevada Independent Party was the victory of IAP member Bill Wilkerson to the Elko School Board, in a non-partisan race. Congratulations to our soon to be incumbent office holders in Nevada!

The Nevada party did exceedingly well across the board, with its five statewide candidates receiving from 3.44% of the vote to 6.75% of the vote all in races with three or more candidates plus a "none of the above" option. Two Nevada state senate candidates received in excess of 32% of the vote and one received over 22% of the vote. These results were indicative of results received across the board by over 40 Nevada candidates.

In Florida our candidates made impressive showings! C. Burt Linthicum received 34,528 votes and 28.9%of the vote for the 12th District State Senate seat. Ken MacPherson received 10,971 and 22.5% of the vote for State Representative in the 76th District!

The Utah Constitution Party did an outstanding job, running over 40 candidates. Scott Bradley, the candidate for US Senate, received 3.75% of the vote. Jim Noorlander, in the 3rd Congressional District won over 8% of the vote against incumbent Chris Cannon, while Congressional candidates Mark Hudson and David Perry received 3.1% and 1.5% respectively. Ed McGarr, in the 58th District State House race garnered 29.91% of the vote and was only kept from greatly exceeding that total by a full blown effort by the Utah Republican Party which feared that McGarr might actually win that seat.
